2008 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Charles Jordan Guest Speaker Nov, 22, 2008
2008 Annual Membership Meeting ReportThe annual meeting for the Friends of the Refuge was held on November 22, 2008 at the Wildlife Center and was a tremendous success. Over 90 people were in attendance for the brunch and business meeting. A report on the activities of the past year were reviewed by FOR President, Norman Penner. A full copy of the report is contained in the 2008 Annual Report . Revisions to the By-laws were reviewed and discussed. The membership voted to approve the By-laws as presented with the exception of sections 4.09d and 4.09e which shall be removed from the By-laws. New Board members were presented and voted on. New Board members elected at the meeting were Justin Gericke, Berk Moss, Bonnie Anderson, Linda Henderson and Bob McSweeney. The meeting culminated with a very motivational speech by Charles Jordan, a national recognized leader in environmental policy. Mr. Jordan drew on experience as the director of the Portland Bureau of Parks and Recreation, serving on the President's Commission on Americans Outdoors (1985-1987) and service as a Board member and president of the Conservation Fund. He beautifully tied this into his role as a grandfather and the legacy he hopes to leave behind to his granddaughter and other youth. We wish to thank Mr. Jordan for his efforts in coming to our annual meeting. |
