The Andean Condor is the national symbol bird of Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Chile. Is highly respected by many of the people of these countries and has inspired a number of legends. Gerardo Calderon is a well-known music educator in the pacific Northwest and beyond. He will talk about the Andean Condor and the importance of this magnificent bird for the ancient cultures in South America.  

Gerardo will also talk about some of the instruments he will be playing during his presentation. Culminating the presentation with the most emblematic song “El Condor Pasa,” composed by Daniel Alomia Robles from Peru. Explaining the different movements (rhythms) the composer included in this masterpiece.
